My Father La Antiguedad Corona Grande

Today we have the La Antiquedad Corona Grande.  It has a medium brown oily wrapper.  It has a few visible seems and invisible veins.  It comes in at 6 1/4 X 47.  At first light the draw is a bit tight but is producing adequate smoke out put.  The draw flavors are a slightly creamy cedar and black pepper flavor and tingle sensation.  The finish is a earthy leather and dark chocolate.  The finish flavors stay on the palate till the next draw and are at a medium to full body. The burn isn't razor sharp but its not an issue through the first inch.

Two and a half inches down and the draw remains a little tight.  Smoke output has dropped a little but is still producing enough smoke to have a good smoking experience.  The draw flavors remain the same as the first update.  The finish also remains the same as well but the pepper and flavor tingle sensation have really picked up.  The flavors stay on the palate well into the next draw and are at a solid full body.  The burn has required a few minor touch ups and has remained wavy since first light.

Three inches down and nothing has really changed.  The flavors are fairly complex but consistent.  They're are a lot of flavors going on but they have not changed the entire length of the cigar.  The flavors remain at a full body and the burn has required another minor touch up after the ash fell off.

With just over two inches left I sat the cigar down for the last time at the 1 hour and 9 minute mark.  Overall, the cigar had good flavor and sub par construction.  The only notes remaining after the last puff was the black pepper flavor and tingle sensation and a slightly chard tobacco flavor.

Arturo Fuente Anejo Reserva No.50

Tonight we have the Arturo Fuente Anejo Reservaa No. 50.  This cigar has a dark brown wrapper with invisible seems and no visible veins.  It feels almost like paper-mache and is rock hard.  This cigar comes in at  5 1/4 X 50.  At first light the draw is a little firm.  It is requiring a double puff to produce good smoke output.  The draw flavors are a creamy cedar and black pepper combination.  The black pepper has the tingling sensation and black pepper flavor.  The finish flavors are more of the creamy cedar and black pepper flavor with the tingle coming in a few seconds after the finish flavors start to fade away.  The cigar is at a mild to medium body and is burning razor sharp.

A inch and a half down and some flavor shifts start to happen. The draw still is fairly snug and is still requiring a double puff. The draw still has the creamy cedar texture and flavor accompanied by the black pepper flavor and tingle as before.  The finish switches back and forth from draw to draw to a creamy cedar and pepper and a dark bakers chocolate.  The chocolate is sweet and creamy and takes over all the other flavors till the next draw.  The body is now at a medium and the burn line is still perfect.

Three inches down and some more shifts happen on the finish.  The draw has finally loosened up and is now only requiring one draw.  The creamy cedar and black pepper flavor are on the draw.  The pepper tingle sensation no longer is present.  The finish has a creamy texture and flavor along with the cedar.  The bakers chocolate is no longer dominating but is still there mixing with a leather note.  The cigar is now at a medium to full body and the burn has never required any attention and is still razor sharp.

Now with one and a half inches left the cigar is starting to get warm and mushy.  The bakers chocolate and black pepper flavor and tingle sensation have taken over the draw and finish and the smoke is now at a solid full body.  Finally at the 1 hour and 37 minute mark I sat the cigar in the ashtray for the final time.  This cigar was excellent and I am lucky enough to have found a five pack of them.  I highly recommend them!

La Herencia Cubana Dos Capas Toro

Today we have the La Herencia Cubana Dos Capas Toro.  This cigar is barber-pole wrapped.  It has a Sumatra and Connecticut broad leaf maduro wrapper.  The cigar has no visible veins and tight visible seems.  It comes in a 6 X 52.  After lighting, the draw is perfect, producing large amounts of smoke with just a little bit of resistance.  The draw flavors are a smooth and sweet cedar and black pepper flavor and tingling sensation.  The finish has the sweet cedar and black pepper flavor and sensation with some faint notes of coffee and a little bit of earth.  The finish flavors fade fairly quickly and are at a mild to medium in body.  The burn is slightly wavy but not an issue through the first inch.

Two inches down and not a whole lot has changed.  The draw is still perfect.  The draw flavors remain the same as the last update.  The finish flavors are all still there as well.  The only difference is that the finish flavors have come up in body.  They stay on the palate till the next draw and are at a solid medium body.  The burn has evened out and is now burning above average.

Three inches down and some flavor shifts are occurring.  The draw flavors remain untouched.  The finish flavors come in on the palate in this order: The pepper flavor and tingle sensation, followed by a sweet earth and hint of coffee, followed by a leather and a peppery coco.  The flavors are still staying on the palate till the next draw and are at a medium body.  A nice natural sweetness accompanies all the flavors.  The draw remains perfect and the burn has stayed even and above average.

With just over two inches to go the pepper and leather have become the dominant flavors on the draw and finish.  The natural sweetness that has been present throughout the smoke has dissipated and the leather and black pepper are all that remain.  I sat the cigar down for the last time at the 1 hour and 10 minute mark, which is a pretty good smoke time for a toro.  For being barber-pole wrapped cigar it actually burned really well.

Ave Maria Clermont

Today we have the Ave Maria Clermont.  This is a Cigars International exclusive cigar. It has a medium brown wrapper with a invisible seems and no visible veins.  It comes in at 5 1/2 X 45.  At first light the draw is perfect, producing huge amount of smoke with just the right bit of resistance.  The draw flavors are a sweet cedar and black pepper flavor and zing.  The finish is sweet cedar mixed with a citrus and black pepper flavor with the zing giving a pepper tingle sensation on the end of the finish. The flavors leave the palate fairly quickly through the first third and is at a medium body.  The burn is slightly wavy but burning nicely.

Two inches down and the draw remains perfect.  The draw still has a sweet cedar and black pepper flavor and tingle sensation.  The finish starts off with the sweet cedar that transitions into a raisin note.  A leather coats the palate along with the black pepper flavor and tingle sensation to end the flavors on the finish.  The finish flavors are starting to last on the palate longer.  The body is at a medium to full.  The burn has evened out and is near razor sharp.

Three inches down and the draw continues to produce large amounts of smoke.  The draw flavors remain the same as the last update as do the finish flavors.  The only difference now is the citrus is back coming in right after the sweet cedar and raisin.  The flavors are also starting to get creamy in the mouth leaving a nice coating on the palate.  The flavors are still at a medium to full in body and the burn continues to chug along nicely.

With two inches left the cigar draw and finish flavors are starting to get warm.  A chard tobacco and nutty flavor are coming in and dominates all the draw and finish flavors.  I sat the cigar down for the last time at the 52 minute mark.  This cigar was very tasty and produced some fairly complex flavors.  I will definitely be buying more.
