E.P. Carrillo Cabinet Robusto

Today we have the E.P. Carrillo Cabinet in Robusto.  This cigar has a dark brown wrapper with a few visible veins and no visible seems.  It comes in at 5 X 50.  After lighting, the draw is slightly snug but is producing large amounts of smoke.  The draw flavors have a nice sweet cedar and earth with a slight hint of black pepper.  The black pepper is at a mild to medium on the retro hale.  The finish continues the black pepper, sweet cedar, and earth notes.  The body is at a mild to medium and the flavors leave the palate fairly quickly.  The burn through the first inch is razor sharp.

Two inches down and not much has changed.  Some baking spice and leather is now making an appearance at the end of the finish.  The notes are not dominant and are faint but do come in every few puffs.  The body is now up to a solid medium.  The burn has remained razor sharp and has produced a very large ash.  The construction of this cigar has been excellent.  Around ten minutes into the cigar the draw opened up and is now perfect and continues to produce a large amount of smoke.

With just over an inch to go the cigar became to warm mushy to continue.  I sat the cigar down for the last time at the 1 hour and 3 minute mark, which is a great time for a robusto.  Overall, this cigar didn't offer many flavor transitions but the flavors that did remain consistent were very tasty.  The body never went over a medium.  The black pepper had moments where it would get more intense but never went over a medium burn through the retro hale.  I recommend this cigar for pairing with a coffee in the morning! Tasty flavors that don't over power.
