Tonight we have the Oliva Serie V in Diadema. It comes in at 7 X 48. The cigar is light brown in color and has a tapered end with a flatened torpedo cap. It has invisible seems and zero veins. At frist light there is a black pepper taste and zing on the draw. On the finish notes of coffee and cedar are present. The flavors are at a medium body and do stay won the palate till the next puff. For the first inch the cigar has a nice even burn going slightly wavy but catching it self up without any touch-ups. The draw is near perfect and is producing large amounts of smoke.
Two and a quarter inches down and the ash is holding on nicely. On the draw the pepper flavor and zing are still the same as they were on the first inch. A nice coco and coffee are now present on the finish. The flavors are very smooth and have a creamy feel in the mouth on the draw and finish. The coco and coffee are battling for dominance on the finish. They last all the way till the next draw and are right in the middle between medium and full in body. Every now and then a cedar note will pop in and out but quickly gets dominated by either the coco or the coffee. The draw is still near perfect and the burn is a little wavy but not requiring any touchups and is still self correcting.
Four inches down and some transitions are starting to happen. The draw is still the black pepper flavor and zing and has added in a sweet cedar. The finish shows hints of the coco and coffee, but a leather is now dominating the finish till the next draw. Every few puffs and a vanilla note with a slight citurs flavor comes on the finish as well. Sometimes the finish will be dominated by the leather, the next puff it will be the vanilla and citrus. All this is happenig with the coco and coffee still in the background. The flavor combinations are very tasty and very unique. The burn and draw are still preforming the same as the previous updates.
One and a quarter inches are now left. The draw and finish flavors have remained exact same down to the nub. This cigar has preformed beautiful and the flavors never got washed out by any heat or bitterness. I sat the cigar down for the last timie at the one hour and 25 minute mark. I have had other sizes of the Oliva V before. Frankly, I didn’t care for them. They were good but they seemed as if the were missing the wow factor. This one has completely changed how I feel about the series. I really enjoyed this cigar and will be finding more of them!
