Crowned Heads Court Reserve XVIII Robusto

Today we have the Crowned Heads Court Reserve XVIII Robusto.  This cigar has a dark brown wrapper with no visible veins or seems.  It comes in at 5 X 50.  After lighting,   the draw is perfect producing a large amount of smoke out put.  The draw has a nice black pepper blast, especially through the retro-hale.  An earthiness comes up on the finish with sweet cedar and a light roast coffee note.  The pepper kicks back up at the tail end of the finish and compliments the earth and light roast coffee nicely.
The burn through the first inch is absolutely perfect and is razor sharp.  The body is at a medium and rising.

Two inches down and some more flavor changes happen.  The pepper is still powerful on the draw and retro-hale.  The finish continues the sweet cedar, earthiness, and light roast coffee.  Baking spices and leather start to creep in every few draws in addition to the previous mentioned flavors.  The cigars construction up to this point is very impressive.  The flavors are very desert like and tasty.  The body is up to medium to full.

Three inches down and some flavors have dropped off.  The black pepper on the draw and retro-hale has dropped off, still present but not as strong as the previous update.  The sweet cedar, earthiness, and coffee are now gone.  The leather and baking spices have come to the forefront.  The black pepper does kick up every now and then but is not an every puff flavor.  The earthiness also comes back in every now and then but is quickly overshadowed by the leather and baking spices.  The burn remains razor sharp.  The body is now up to a solid full.

With just over an inch left the cigar finally got to warm to continue smoking and all the flavors have been washed out by a chard tobacco and earth note.  I sat the cigar down for the last time at the 54 minute mark which is a fair time for a robusto.  Overall this cigar had nice complexity and desert like flavors.  The PERFECT construction and draw combined with the tasty flavors made this one of the best cigars I have smoked this year!
