Drew Estate Liga Privada T52 Robusto Aged 3 years

Today we have the Drew Estate Liga Privada T52 Robusto.  This cigar was gifted to me from a friend that obtained the cigar on Drew Estate Cigar Safari in May 2015.  I have been aging it in my humidor since that time.  This cigar has a deep dark brown wrapper with no visible veins or seems.  It comes in at 5 X 54.  After lighting the draw is fairly snug and is needing  a double puff to get good smoke output.  The draw flavors earthy and slightly sweet.  Through the nose there is no pepper or spice to speak of just smooth tobacco.  The finish continues the earthiness.  The body is at a mild to medium.  the burn through the first inch did require a minor touch up.

Just over an inch down and the cigar hasn't changed.  The draw is still snug. Needing a double and sometimes triple puff.  The burn remains wavy but hasn't required any touch ups.  The body of the cigar is still at a mild to medium.  There is no pepper or spice to speak of on the palate or through the nose.

Over two inches down and the cigar starts to come to life a tiny bit.  The draw now has some black pepper and earth notes.  The finish has turned up the black pepper in intensity through the nose on the retro hale.  The black pepper is mixing well with the sweet tobacco and earth and is combining for a coffee note.  Its a faint coffee but a nice and welcomed change to the profile.  The body is at a medium.  The burn is still wavy and did require another small touch up.

With just over an inch to go the pepper has dropped off.  The sweet earthy tobacco is still the main note on the finish.  A leather note has started to come in every now and then but fades quickly.  The cigar started to get warm and mushy and I set it down for the last time at the 1 hour and 18 minute mark.  Overall, this cigar was muted in flavor from what I'm use to from the T52.  Age did not do this cigar justice and I feel as if the T52 smoked fresh not aged is the better smoking experience.
