Joya Silver Toro

Today we have the Joya Silver in Toro.  This 6 X 52 semi boxed pressed cigar has a dark brown wrapper with no visible veins or seems.  After lighting, the draw is slightly snug but producing adequate output.  The draw has a nice black pepper flavor and tingle sensation on the palate.  The black pepper is followed by a sweet earth and creamy cedar.  The finish continues the black pepper and and a sweet earth and leather combination dominate the finish till the next draw.  The retro-hale has a more intense black pepper intensity and leather note.  The cigar is at a medium in body. With no detectable strength as of yet. The burn through the first inch has been great and has not required any touch ups.

Three inches down and some flavor shifts happen.  The draw flavors remain the same as the first update.  The finish still has the black pepper and leather.  A creamy sweet earth is carrying over from the draw flavors into the finish as well.  Every few draws a baking spice comes in and is paring nicely with the pepper, sweet earth, and leather.  The body is still at a medium.  The burn remains perfect.

Just over an inch left and the cigar is starting to get warm and mushy with all the good flavors being washed out by a chard tobacco note.  I sat the cigar down for the last time at the 1 and 18 minute mark.  Overall this cigar was a nice medium experience offering some tasty flavors with some fair complexity.  It burned well, drew well, and had good flavor.  What more can you ask for?
