J.C. Newman Diamond Crown Black Diamond Radiant

Today we have the J.C. Newman Diamond Crown Black Diamond Radiant.  This short dark brown cigar has no visible veins or seems.  Its very attractive and sleek in appearance.   It comes in at 4 1/2 X 54.  After lighting, the draw is slightly snug, but is producing adequate smoke output with a double puff.  The draw flavor is a sweet earthy tobacco core.  The retro-hale has some black pepper spice and burn to it.  The finish is sweet earth and a light leather and coco combination.  The body is medium.  The burn however needed a few touch ups at the beginning to get going properly.

20 minutes in and the cigar changes slightly.  The draw flavors remain unchanged.  The finish continues the sweet earth, leather, and coco nib.  There is some cinnamon that comes in every few draws near the tail end of the finish.  When he cinnamon shows up it dominates and is the last flavor your taste till the next draw.  The draw opened up and is now perfect!  The burn however has required several more touch ups and is starting to effect flavor.  The body is still leaning towards medium but is starting to ramp up to full.

With just over an inch left at the 54 minute mark the cigars flavors started to get washed out by a generic chard tobacco flavor, at this point I sat the cigar down for the last time.  Overall, this cigar was tasty and had very nice chocolate earthy flavors with a bit of spice kick to it.  Unfortunately, the burn was a big issue requiring just over 5 touch ups.  Because of the burn the score was lower than the flavors of this cigar truly reflect.  I recommend tracking this one down if you enjoy the flavor profile that I mentioned!
