Asylum 13 Robusto

Tonight we have the Asylum 13 Robusto.  This cigar has a dark brown wrapper with a few visible veins and seems spanning the entire length of the cigar.  It comes in at 5 X 50.  After lighting, the draw is slightly snug but producing adequate output. Pepper is the dominant note on the draw.  The finish has some earth, followed by deep dark tobacco and finished off by more black pepper flavor and tingle sensation.  The body is already at a medium to full and is starting off like its going to be a powerhouse.  The burn through the first inch has been wavy and required one touch up.

Just over and inch in and some flavor changes start to happen.  The draw is still snug but producing adequate smoke.  The draw still has the pepper blast.  The finish still has the earth and deep dark tobacco but some leather notes have started to come on every few draws or so.  The pepper is not as intense as it was at the beginning.  The body is still at a medium to full and still seems to be turning up to a full.  The bur is still wavy but has not required any more touch ups

Three inches down and unfortunately the cigar went out on me.  I tapped the ash at noticed that the cigar was tunneling.  I gave it a relight.  A few draws after the relight the flavors returned but pepper dominated the draw and finish.  The burn is still wavy and the draw is still fairly tight but producing just enough smoke output.

With just over an inch and a half left the cigar has gone warm and mushy.  Pepper and leather are all that remain on the draw and finish.  The burn never quite recovered and required another touch up.  The flavors finally went to warm and I sat the cigar down and the 45 minute mark.  Overall it was a pretty disappointing experience.
