Padron Londres Maduro

Today we have the Padron Londres Maduro.  This cigar had a dark brown wrapper with invisible veins and seems.  It has a slight box press and slightly lump construction.  It comes in at 5 1/2 X 42.  After lighting, the draw is prefect giving off a large amount of smoke out put.  The draw flavors are a sweet earth and a big blast of black pepper.  Through the retro-hale the back pepper is quite potent.  The finish sees the black pepper die off slightly and the sweet earth be the dominant flavor on the palate.  The flavors are at a medium body.  The burn through the first inch was perfect.

Two inches down and the cigar starts to transform.  The black pepper is still present on the draw and finish, however it is not nearly as potent.  Its now just a background note.  The sweet earth is now being accompanied by a light roast coffee and bakers chocolate.  The flavors are combining for  dark chocolate truffle note.  Its very rich and is definitely tasty.  Every few puffs the black pepper kicks up a notch and come back in heaver and is adding a little bit of kick to the overall desert like flavors.  The cigar is now up to a medium to full in body.  The burn and draw remain perfect.

With just over an inch to go I sat the cigar down for the last time at the 1 hour and 3 minute mark, which is an outstanding amount of time for corona sized cigar.  Overall, this cigar was very tasty.  After burning down two inches the cigar took on the truffle flavor and other than the black pepper kicking up every now and then the profile never changed.  The cigar wasn't very complex but that was okay with me as I loved the truffle and black pepper flavor.  I believe the Padron Thousand series to be the best value in the industry.  Try them out, you will not be disappointed!
